Spoken Texts in a State Junior High School in Surabaya. RETAIN, Vol 4 No 2,

The research was about resemblance between
students’ produced spoken text and spoken model texts. The result of the
research shows that there was a little
resemblance of students’ produced spoken texts to the teacher’s spoken model
texts because the spoken model texts only consisted of some short and
unrelated sentences, while the produced texts consisted of the coherence
related sentences. Additionally, the spoken model texts failed to represent the
intended components of descriptive texts, but most of the produced texts
successfully represented the components of descriptive texts. The subject of
the research was a national instructor English teacher of 2013 curriculum in a
state junior high school in Surabaya. The data were collected in a seventh
grade class in SMPN 1 Surabaya which is one of the pilot project schools of
2013 curriculum. The topic that discussed of this learning process in this
research was My Grandfather is A Doctor. The data were collected by
documentation of the lesson plan and observation of the learning process. Then,
the researcher analyze of the data were using qualitative methods. The previous study
was found the incoherence of the model text and produced text in purpose was
only based on an English lesson transcript of the descriptive text.
